My forte is adapting to the individual student. I have an inate ability to deciper the way each student's mind absorbs knowledge and I am flexible enough in my methodology to adjust to the necessary path. Although my approach is always conctructivist, my teaching methods vary from child to child. I was raised in the urban decay of the oldest neighboorhood in the country,yet private-school educated. When explaining concepts to students in classes that I sub-taught I felt the best approach was to talk to individual students and use a whiteboard to clearly explain the concepts. I usually would give hints or start the problem, and then I would look for the student to add insight on how to progress. I also feel that teaching is an adaptive process and each student has their own learning personality that the teacher needs to recognize and adjust to. When students come in with questions, I will first ask them what subject is it for, does the teacher give out any guidelines about the assignment, and what difficulties you have with this assignment.
