Through this experience I obtained a great understanding of various student learning styles and effective teaching methods from numerous teachers and numerous students. I then secured a position with one of the top 10 public accounting firms in the country. After obtaining my bachelors degree I advanced within that firm and then took advantage of an opportunity to obtain additional knowledge of the overall accounting process through a medium sized local firm. I am a very patient teacher. If it seems someone is 'just not getting it' I will try a different approach. People learn at different levels, and what works for one does not always work for another; therefore,finding the way for each individual student is the key. I have also found that most people learn a task by 'hands on' learning, not listening to how it should be done. In this situation, giving someone the tools to do the work themselves gives them the confidence to do it, and feel good about conquering the challenge.
As a working professional, I was driven later in life to get a degree that was started right after high school. I first must one hundred percent become knowledgeable and comfortable with the material I will be teaching. I enjoy being able to personalize myself not only with the work but the students as well. For the past several years I have owned a run my own Grant Writing Company. I specialized in the teaching and the mentoring of my clients in the Grant application process. I worked hand-in hand with them in preparing the detailed paperwork.
