A Little Bit About Me...

Tutored students as a part of an after school program with inner-city, Washington High School. Assisted the struggling students with brainstorming paper topics, clearly communicating ideas, general textbook use, critical thinking, future goal making. I also made a point to get to the students as people not projects. Throughout college I regularly worked with Spanish speaking students to develop clear papers on a variety of subjects. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked quite a lot with elementary school children, whether it be in or outside of work. I have done independent tutor work, mainly in the fields of Art and Language Arts. In the past I had a long-term job in which I was required to interact with young children, and I did so willingly. For two years in a row, I taught a Beginner's Guitar course for children and the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. I enjoy very much seeing things "click" with students, particularly young ones. It inspires me not only do teach well but also to always learn more myself.

I enjoy working with young children, and helping them to understand the subject and how to apply it in their daily life. My overall goal is to help the child understand for their own good. It defeats the purpose if the child can do math or english while I am sitting right next to them. I want them to be able to retain the knowledge so when they are at school they can remember what they learned and apply it on their own.
As I recent college graduate, I spent my four years gaining knowledge, as well as learning different teaching techniques. I worked at the Boys and Girls Club at the local middle school for my entire four years of college.
