My teaching style is student driven. I like to see the student take charge of their own learning, and assist them to achieve their own goals. I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I have a Ph.D in Chemistry in 2008. I have taught chemistry labs for 4 years in my graduate school. From 1999-2001, I was tutoring students from elementary school up to high school in math and science classes
The experience of teaching students, though complicated at times, was extremely rewarding. I felt a sense of joy when my students understood a concept here and there. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.
