I have a strong background in mathematics because I have earned a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics. I have always been extremely dedicated to my education; I have won numerous awards for academic excellence. During my time as an undergrad, I wrote many mathematical proofs and submitted them to college mathematics journals. I also have experience doing research in robotics. For the previous two years, I have tutored students in calculus, linear algebra, and algorithms. I was also a lab assistant who helped students with Java programming assignments.
My approach to teaching students mathematics is to first ensure they understand the basics. When it comes to teaching or tutoring, I find that it is necessary to craft a pedagogical style that will match the learning style of your student. Each student learns in a different way, whether visually, aurally, kinesthetically, subconsciously, or simply by rote. I find that it is necessary to try each option with all students. I feel that the trouble that many students may have is that they operate differently from the rest of their peers and simply need a different approach to learning material. I find that making the material more interesting is of vast importance as well, and I make learning and retention of information a high priority.

My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.
