A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have never tutored before, I love working with kids and have always had a knack for school, which I hope will translate well into tutoring ability. I feel comfortable stating that I can tutor reading, writing, geography, and history through the high-school level, and any subject at an elementary level. I also have a good deal of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. I have a little volunteer experience assistant teaching children's art and cooking classes, and some babysitting experience.

I have taught overseas and in the United States from 1984 until June of 2014 teaching students from all over the world including the US, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, China, Thailand, Poland, Palestine, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, and other places that may have slipped my mind. My teaching style can best be described as entertaining, insightful, dedicated, flexible and individually-oriented. I feel that for any individual who chooses to learn something new, the biggest key to their success is motivation and their personal interest in what they are looking to learn. My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.
I have tutored fellow classmates in the past throughtout middle school and high school.
