Latin is one of my top subjects! I have my bachelor's degree in Latin, and my education minor meant I was a student teacher of this subject for an entire semester.

I have five years' experience as a writing tutor at my university, during which I wrote and presented papers at multiple regional conferences for university writing tutors. I rose to become one of the most respected and requested tutors out of my peers. I many credit hours of pedagogy and teaching methodology classes, both for Teaching ESL and Latin, and a semester of student teaching under my belt.
I employ the Socratic method of asking lots and lots of questions. I see a tutorial as not a time for a student to soak up information, but to engage the mind and use the tools he has already been given. Of course, if a student truly doesn't know something crucial, I will tell him. I always try to make my instruction at least a little bit funny, and to connect the material to the student's interests, because these factors are known to enhance learning.

As a young student I was very motivated to attend medical school at a young age. I received a bachelor degree, BS, in biology with minors in both psychology and chemistry. After graduating with my undergraduate degree early, I unexpectedly found a passion for teaching. Currently, I am working towards my masters degree, MS, in biology. I believe that each child learn differently, and as such, I have found the best way to teach is to cater to each child's individual learning style. In working one-on-one with students, I feel as though it is crucial to build a trusting relationship in which the child feels comfortable stating whether or not the teaching style I am using is working for them.
