As a college graduate I found that my skills were better off served outside the classroom and could better be used in a one-on-one situation instead of 15 kids at once. I hold a BS in Communication with concentration on English. I have extensive experience with writing and editing as I have worked for various publications. During the past years I have tutored a number of children helping them to read. In addition I have spent countless hours teaching computers to various ages from 10-60 years of age. I took high school and college seriously. After college I worked for several years before attending law school. After law school I decided to combine my legal experience with hands-on medical skills, and I enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at SUNY Delhi, which I will complete next May. This summer is a lull before completing my education and embarking on a medical administration career.
I believe effective learning can occur in a 1-on-1 tutoring situation when the tutor and the student can communicate well. Tone, mood, and setting all come into play.
