A Little Bit About Me...

I completed a Masters in Chemistry in 2009, and since then I have worked as an organic chemist in an academic setting. During graduate school, I taught college level chemistry and organic chemistry in a laboratory setting. I prepared lectures and handouts, held study groups in small and large group settings, and worked with students one on one. After graduate school, I continued to tutor chemistry, organic chemistry, and algebra to students at other Universities in one on one settings.
I find that the best way to tutor is to use a combination of different methods. For example, I think that pictures/ball and stick structures, reading materials, and having a discussion about the question at hand are all useful and important ways to completely understand Chemistry. My comments on tutoring College Algebra : I have taken several college Algebra courses and I have done well in each class.

I just recently graduated California State University with a degree in Liberal Studies. Within this degree I chose to emphasize on mathematics because I want to become a high school math teacher. I have taken every course from Algebra-Intermediate Calculus. I am highly experienced in Algebra 1 and Geometry. I have been working at a probation school for a year and a half with at risk middle school and high school students. One of my many obligations is to help my students in math. I mainly tutor my students in Algebra 1 and Geometry.
I feel that positive reinforcement and patience are two very valuable traits when it comes to teaching. I work hard to ensure that I demonstrate these traits when working with my students.
