My teaching style involves being open and relatable while keeping he conversation related to learning and the subjects of importance. I feel like students respond best when they are in a positive work environment and are pushed to be their best. This involves teaching through the Socratic method, of forcing individuals to answer their own questions. I completed my B.S in Biology in 1991 and my M.S. in Wildlife Research in 1994. I have 2 manuscripts published in the Journal of Wildlife Management. I worked for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources for 14 years as an Endangered Species Research Scientist. I have extensive experience in science, math, technical writing, computer programming, and database management. For the last 18 months I have been laid off and enjoying parenting my 2 children who are 11 and 7. A Little Bit About Me...

My drive for knowledge enabled me to complete three degrees by the age of 22. I have high grades in all my classes as well as the extra science and writing classes I take on the side. I have a AAST in environmental science and technology, a BA in marine science and environmental studies, and will have my BS in one quarter. As well as being a full time student except for the summertime I tutor people in need of a little extra help. I have tutors ages from 6-25 and people with disabilities as well. I am a very patient, hands-on style of tutor. I take the time and try to explain things to people who have a hard time understanding. I try to gage what the student is struggling with and also what they do understand, so I can quickly pinpoint their troubles and focus on the problem issue. Some kids need more explaining, others need a picture drawn out for them. I am good at finding what method people learn best with.

I love helping and teaching children. I have given riding lessons to all ages of children for years, realizing there is no better feeling than helping children accomplish their goals. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is the shrapnel method. I like to use a large variety of techniques - visual, auditory, games, etc - to achieve the same goal. This keeps interest up and allows me to narrow in on the method that is most valuable to a specific student.
I taught introductory zoology lab to freshman at Mississippi State University. Then I served in the Peace Corps where I taught daily 13 3 year olds to 15 year olds English, mathematics, and arts and crafts. I also taught basic library skills to all the elementary school classes.
