My teaching style is entirely dependent on who I'm teaching. I try to prod and ask leading questions, while also looking for how it is I can relate the subject matter to the student. I consider it a failure of mine if I am ever forced to recommend a student memorizes something that they ought to understand on a deeper level. Then in the late 1980s and mid-1990s, I taught the basic speech course (public speaking) at several urban/suburban college and university settings (DePaul University, Loyola University, College of DuPage, Harper College), in addition to storytelling classes at two non-traditional adult learning centers in Chicago.
