High school/college physics, math and Engineering tutoring

I have always enjoyed personal tutoring and TA experiences in the past. I firmly believe that teaching is a privilege, rather than just a responsibility. Teaching is about inspiring thinking and encouraging learning. As your tutor i will set goals for students to grow, and at the same time, allow the students to reasonably set their own long-term and short-term goals. I enjoy working with people in a relaxed friendly environment. I enjoy teaching, sharing and practicing mathematics, science and engineering. Schedule is flexible.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to create a relaxed fun environment while learning, and to also be able to put terms in simple lament terms. I think a lot of people are just very intimidated by science classes and I think that teachers and textbooks do a great job at scaring people into thinking they are tough subjects when in reality (from my experience) they are very rigid and easy to think about once you realize there isn't that much information that you need to know.
Hi there, I have more than three years of experience in tutoring/teaching general chemistry at Humboldt State University. I started teaching supplemental chemistry courses as a sophomore and through my experiences I was able to bring the passing rate of my chemistry class from an average of 70% to 80%. I have loads of handouts and practice exams on many subjects that I have personally made in order to help students practice t ... read more

This really depends on the subject, however, I like to do drills to keep basic skills sharp, and to learn new skills. Each student is different, and will need slightly adjusted methodology. I'm also very open to suggestion.
I am a few years out of high school, and I've taken several college classes. My AP knowledge spans almost every subject. I can help with almost all high school level classes and below. In a classroom setting, I adapt my teaching style so that all students can learn. I get to know my students well so that I will be able to recognize when they may be experiencing personal issues that might affect their learning. It is also important that I show my students that I care about them and their success. Students need to realize that it is ok to make mistakes, and I need to ensure that they feel safe to do so without fear of ridicule. It is my job to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all of my students and to provide stimulating instruction in various forms to ensure that all students are able to learn in the way they learn best.

I am a recently graduating student. I have little experience in tutoring. I have tutored two students. The first was in the subject of highschool Geometry, and the second was in the field of pre-Algebra.
I believe that math can be learn by anyone since it is used everyday. Most students don't believe that they can use the tools and knowledge they learn in the classroom later on in life. My style is to teach students how the subject relates to everyday life, which creates a interest in the subject.

As a recent college graduate with a BA in Spanish and a BA in International Affairs, I possess current experiences from my studies in the United States, Europe and South America. Since attending college in Spain and Argentina I understand word usage and vocabulary differences within the Spanish language. Mixed with my superior Spanish skills I am able to discuss and explain political differences in Spanish and explain, on a historical level, how government has evolved internationally. As a past member of the Sacramento Jazz Society I also have a strong background in music both in practice and theory. Since high school, I have tutored others in Spanish, government, music and sports.
I come from a family of teachers and, like my parents, I enjoy helping others and reaching the end goal of aiding a student in attaining their own aspirations both long and short term. I understand ... read more

I believe that students learn best when you are able to embrace and utilize what interests them. With that said, I don't have a standard way to tutor as every student is different. I believe in visual learning, so the use of activities and props are all a part of tutoring. Additionally, as someone who has gone through the academic system, I believe I can provide good advice that will help students reach their academic goals. In addition to all of my credentials, I am an Eagle Scout. I love the outdoors. I love sports, especially football.
I've tutored a wide range of students from 5th graders to 12th graders in a variety of subjects including Math and Science. I have received a undergraduate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a graduate degree from University of Michigan. Both degrees are in engineering. In addition to academics are my experiences in the work ... read more

Knowledge and skills are most permanent when we discover and create for ourselves, so I like to be a guide that leads the student to their own conclusions, rather than take over and lecture. I will be there to direct and support the student; I like when the student works at the board or on the paper instead of me, so that they retain what is being taught. I am very patient, and will work with the student on a subject until it is truly understood, and for more algorithmic tasks, until the student can quickly produce the correct answer.
Tutoring my fellow classmates was an integral part of my college experience. At Yuba College, I tutored math and chemistry in the College Success Center for two school years. I was in demand, as even fellow tutors would seek my help. I was also requested by my physics professor to tutor physics in the Hard Math Cafe on campus. While at UCI, wher ... read more
