I was homeschooled for the majority of my education which enabled me to assit my younger brothers and sisters in their studies. I taught a few Science classes including botony and a study of birds and have tutored in highschool math as well. I played volleyball, took 3 years of piano, and was a member of Chior as well. I worked as a teachers aide in a preschool for 2 years. I worked with children from the age of 6 weeks to 5 years. I plan on going to college for either business or diognostic sonography.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is different for each student. I have never considered myself a student that things come easy to. I always had to find a way to relate to the material, and when I tutor that is exactly what I try to achieve with each student. Sometimes all it takes is it being explained one more time a different way.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student. Upon graduation, I joined Teach for America and taught high school English in rural North Carolina. Since my tenure in TFA, I have taught English to students in Mexico, substitue taught for 2 years at a Waldorf school in La Crosse, WI, and currently tutor and mentor students as I attend graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Cumulatively, including extended substitute teaching situations, I have taught all grade levels 1-12 in various subjects. I would describe my teaching style as ecclectic. By this I mean that I discern which style or strategy would best accomdodate the needs of the particular child, based on their learning style. Once the child's learning style is distinguished, I would tailor my lessons/tutoring to that particular style.
