A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and a Certificate in Computing which is one step down from a minor. The statistics degree program had a heavy emphasis in mathematics, so a lot of my course work contained math classes. I have always been in advanced math classes and have been tutoring friends, family, and colleagues since High School. I will be starting at the University of Kentucky in August 2012, preparing for a Masters in Statistics, and available for tutoring the end of August/early September 2012.

My strongest area of expertise in teaching is reading. I have taught it for years. I have come to the conclusion through both personal experience, observation of other master teachers and through current educational research that it is most necessary to teach reading and math daily in a systematic manner while exposing the students to a learning rich environment(a classroom reading corner full of books is ideal for this). I had my first experience with tutoring in an intensive summer program at Georgia Tech before my freshman year when a good friend and upperclassman helped me navigate my way through Chemistry and college life.
