Former Marine with a passion for making programming easy

Recently got out of the Marine Corps where five years were spent in the intelligence field. I am currently working as a software developer in DC. I have a passion for helping people of all ages understand computers and programming. The most important skill I offer is the ability to effectively use the internet to find the solution to any and all programming questions you may have when I'm not around.

More About This Tutor...

It has always been a passion of mine to work with and educate young children and youth. I began tutoring at a Elementary School for a few hours when I was in high school as well as assisted other children with math and reading on an as needed basis. When I was away at undergrad school, I was able to work with local Elementary children, but it was not on a consistent basis. Once I graduated from Undergrad, I returned home and began tutoring with my church and volunteered to work with the Sr. Youth Ministry as well. During this time period I also worked with two different tutoring companies.
My teaching style varies based on the child that I am working with that time. I have worked with children with all different kinds of learning styles, so I have learned over the years that you have to be flexible and mindful of the specific child that you are working with. Through my experience I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During my time at University of Maryland, I thoroughly enjoyed my courses in mathematics which included Calculus II & III, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Applications with Linear Algebra and Complex Numbers while receiving a BS in Electrical Engineering. In the past year, I had the opportunity to teach Calculus II for a student at George Mason, basic computer programming for student at the UMUC and an Algebra II student in high school. I enjoyed helping students reach their goals.
I believe one can achieve anything if they are willing to work hard. I have an easy going personality with a strong focus in aiding in any way the learning of a new subject matter to a student. I will try to remove any mental road blocks that get in the way of learning that subject matter. I also believe having fun in learning is a good approach to ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I enjoy teaching adults and young adults who may be in high school or college. You can always find a way to relate the material to the student, and that is the key for them not just to understand it but care about it and have motivation. Such distracted or unprivileged students just need someone to sit down with them and break the teachings down for them.
I always enjoyed teaching mathematics topics such as Calculus to students. That subject in particular is needed for many applied fields in which several (engineering, physics, actuarial science) I have both working and educational experience in. I tutored for three years in various mathematics subjects at Penn State.
