If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

Teaching is one of my passions, and I intend to teach at the college level after obtaining my M.S. My fourth grade teacher sparked my love of science at an early age; she was so excited about the material and invested in us that we couldn't help but learn. This experience instilled in me a desire to share my passion for academia, specifically chemistry and biology, with others. I believe that a passionate, invested teacher can do much to influence and encourage students. Because of my familiarity with the sciences, I am able to explain one concept in many different ways. I like to guide my students and help teach them to think for themselves. I believe that this will ultimately equip them to be successful in all their future endeavors.

In reality, I have been tutoring almost since I could read or write. The first tutoring job I held was in elementary school. After graduating from elementary school, I did my first two years of secondary education via home-school and stayed at our small, two-room elementary school in order to help the younger students. During my senior year of academy, I served as a Resident Assistant and Dormitory Tutor. After earning my bachelors degree in Biology, I returned home and worked at our local community college as a math tutor, and then went on to privately tutor several individuals, including one student who had been diagnosed with ADD. I have tutored students in a variety of different subjects, but the concentration of my tutoring has been in English, mathematics and science.

I am a 'relaxed' teacher, but maintain - or try to maintain - a good study pace. The individual I may be tutoring may require different approaches to try and learn the material at-hand; however, I have always found that with a positive attitude and a constructive approach to any learning 'issue' the solution is normally found between both the student and the tutor (as to the best study method works for the individual at-hand).
As an undergraduate student at the University of California Santa Barbara I found and nurtured a love to pass-on learned experiences to others. The program I was heavily involved with was named MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement). Being an engineer, I tutored students at different High Schools and found great pleasure in seeing how other kid's faces could 'sparkle,' when they found-out that they could solve problems which they may have no ... read more

Fair, firm and consistent are my mantras of classroom management. In that, I believe that all children deserve a safe, clean, engaging, yet structured environment in which to meet their full potential. I firmly believe that learning is a team affair, and practice the standards of cooperative learning.
For the past year-and-a-half, I have worked as a long-term substitute teacher for the Palm Springs Unified School District, acting as the virtual teacher of record in dedicated classrooms on several occasions. Inherent in that experience, I developed lesson plans and graded student work, as well as liaised with parents and administration. A Little Bit About Me...

I very much enjoy teaching. All children can learn provided they are given the proper guidence. Patience, tolerance, and acceptance on the teachers/tutors part is the key to success. The student must simply be willing to learn, excel, and succeed. All children can meet their potential given a good learning environment, encouragement, and established trust that the teacher/tutor is willing to give freely. When I strive (and I will) the student strives. With this: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I have been tutoring math and sciences since I have been a senior in college. Most recently I have worked tutoring math and science as a personal tutor in the LA area. I have also taught Biology and Earth sciences at East High School in Salt Lake City, UT for a year, and 2 years at New Community Jewish High School in West Hills, CA teaching anatomy and physiology and Chemistry.
I teach hands-on with many demonstrations and hands-on activities. I have been told by some of my past students that I made science fun for them and that science used to be their worst subject, but with me as their teacher they found it to be their favorite subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching in an inspiring and positive teaching style, I have special talent to explain and to clarify difficult concepts in a variety of ways that effectively "get the idea across" in a manner that makes learning easier and more fun. I believe that a structured environment with open communication is most effective and conducive to learning. I work with students to develop critical and independent problem-solving skills through praise and building confidence and self-esteem. Because all children do not learn the same way, I incorporate all three learning styles--auditory, visual and kinesthetic, or learning by doing-- into my teaching in order to meet individual needs and ability to learn.

Working with children is my passion ,and ensuring their success is my goal.I consider my teaching style to be a demonstrator in which I put an emphasis on demonstration and modeling. Where I guide the student to develop and apply the skills that were demonstrated. I feel that encouraging student participation while adapting their unique learning style will help the student take responsibility for learning what they need help on.
