My comments on tutoring College Algebra : I took college algebra at the University of Maryland and made an "A". And have taken higher level Algebra course at the Columbus State Community College.

I also was also a visiting instructor at a branch of Ohio State for two years teaching Transitions to Math (review of Algebra for college students) I coached football for 35 years and track for 33 years at the high school and junior high level. In teaching, one must realize that students learn at different rates of speed. Consequently, you need to find a pace at which the student feels comfortable. As most of my experience and interest is in mathematics, I always want to see a student be able to solve problems on their own. It's a great feeling when a student overcomes a hurdle and they realize that they can get the right answer.
In my year of graduate school I accepted a position as a teaching assistant. It was my first opportunity to stand in front of a class. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to teach and also help people in subject areas of which you have great expertise and interest. More recently, I have had vast experience working with middle-school students and am currently doing in-home tutoring. I continue to enjoy working with all types of students, especially in mathematics.
