Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! Students may seem to read well, yet comprehension of what is read is lacking. I employ specific strategies to help students become more aware of specific thinking processes to help them understand what is read.

My teaching experience focuses on teaching students who face reading struggles including dyslexic tendencies. I have had extensive experience teaching reading to dyslexic students. I have volunteered in the Clark Shawnee School System for past 3 years tutoring/mentoring kids with learning disabilities in reading skills. Last school year I was hired as a paid tutor in the school system tutoring a Chinese child (ESL student) in grammar/vocabulary/reading/spelling. This year I will be assisting with math as well. I retired 3 years ago from a State of Ohio agency who worked primarily with folks with both physical and mental health disabilities after 30 plus years of service. I have taught English/Language Arts for 3 years to 6-8 grade students, and I have worked as a tutor in various capacities for the past 7 years.
