Biology is one of my top subjects!

I always teach through illustrations and examples so that the student can explain anything in his own words when he/she understands.

My comments on tutoring Biology : I interned at U of M Flint in cancer research for a summer. Students respond better to learning something that impacts their lives rather than random facts. While teaching general biology, I noticed that several students would come into class assuming that they were unable to learn anything scientific. Although my degree is in music education, most of my teaching was done in Christian schools. I have taught math (through Algebra II), English, grammar, history, and science. I would be proficient in any math through Algebra I and any English, grammar or history through grades 12. I have taught grades 3-12.
I have high expectations of students, but I adjust my "teaching style" to the student. For the struggling student, I usually begin at a level that they can easily perform. From that platform, we progress step-by-step until we find the area of difficulty and why it is there. When we master that, we move on. There are a variety of techniques to use, depending on the problem and the student, but the general expectation is that they can do it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching others and helping them excel in their studies. I can relate to younger students because I have a six year old who required extensive help in the area of reading.
