I Want You to Believe in You!

I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. With my numerous experiences in education, I think I could be a great asset in helping students become more knowledgeable. I have worked as a Tutor, Assistant Teacher, and did a short placement as an Interim Teacher. I can easily adjust to changing environments that will best suit the student’s potential. I was a Tutor in an after school program, and was an Assistant Teacher in a Special Education classroom. I finished an Interim Teaching placement in a middle school A.P. English classroom.
I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher. This teaching style results in a classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable responding to my questions and asking for further clarification about complex topics. As a high school student, I was very active in extracurricular activities. I participated in the rotary club, volunteering at local soup kitchens. I was also a member of the Newspaper, Quiz Bowl, Robotics Team, soccer and baseball throughout my high school career.
