With a degree in Marketing and a year of school for mechanical engineering I have completed a number of calculus classes throughout the years. I supported myself throughout college and beyond in the Food and Beverage Service Industry and took a job in the Insurance Industry after graduating. First I like to try to ask them where they are having trouble or watch them do some problems to see where they are having troubles. Where I find the problem I would show them the correct ways to approach a problem and prove it to them or use other methods to help them understand how the concepts work. I'm a good listener and very patient with students. From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. As we practiced and practiced, the students began to use the techniques that I taught them to calculate the answers on their own.
