By asking the right questions, one can help the student define his problem, form a plan for the solution, carry out the plan, and examine the result. I also try to work as many difficult problems from the student's text as time permits, in order to show that all problems have a solution, and the student can build confidence in attacking any problem. Helping students learn and learn how to grow

I like students to be comfortable, enjoy their experiences with me as much as possible, and learn not only the material they need to study, but also habits and practices that will help them with future studies.
My teaching experience is broad across subjects and age levels. Learning and teaching excite me and I like to think that attitude rubs off on my students. Since completing my formal degree training I have worked in several capacities in the field of education. I taught inner-city young adults in Washington, D.C. in all GED subjects. When I was a student teacher, the "fault" my teaching supervisor found in me was that of doing "too much individiuaized and small group teaching" in my combined classroom of 1st and 2nd graders. He didn't think I could keep it up but I did and with good results. Helping a student to "make the connection", to "get it", to accomplish what he needs educationally is so important because sucess leads to more sucess.
