I "discovered" tutoring during my studies for a Masters degree. I love helping others understand Accounting and Corporate Finance. I can think of nothing as satisfying as seeing a student "get it" or have the elusive "Ah-ha" moment they have been struggling to find. I have 28 years of professional experience in accounting, information technology and leadership. As a Servant Leader who is focused on helping others, I am caring and patient. I can take complex accounting and technology topics and simplify them for the non-technical learner. Trained by the US military to teach and mentor, I have led many over my long career. I have 8 year of professional experience in public practice, corporate accounting, and consulting. I have done everything from external and compliance audits to advisory and tax engagements. I have worked with a wide variety of clients operating in numerous different industries throughout the US, Canada, and overseas.
I am a firm believer in relating education to the real world. This philosophy transcends into my teaching style. I make it a mission to ensure my students understand what they're learning rather than simply memorizing it to pass a test. I want my students to not only learn the subject matter but develop a fundamental understanding of what it takes to succeed in school, college, and the real world. As a recent grad, there are so many lessons I have learned throughout my academic and early professional career that I wished someone had taught me. I will do my best to ... read more

My comments on tutoring Microsoft Office : Know most of the short cut keys to be proficient in using making dazzling documents and reports

33 years of accounting, bookkeeping, tax, payroll, journal entries, profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets, fixed assets, depreciation schedules, sales tax, excise tax, and consulting. Worked with industries in wholesale, retailer, and services. I handle companies with cash and accrual base accounting with C & S Corporations, LLC, Partnerships, and sole proprietors. I enjoy problem solving. It means that I must first understand the challenge by asking question to resolve the situation.
I use visual and auditory means to show the proper way to record the transactions then have the student repeat back what I said and enter the data to further enforce the method. After all is said and done, I show them the results from the transactions cause and effect on their books in the profit and loss, balance sheet, general ledger.

A Little Bit About Me...

I find I can relate to children very well, and develop a relationship with them quickly. By having this professional relationship I can better help them to understand material. It also gives me a better understanding of the best way to teach each child. Children need assistance but also the freedom to learn on their own and teach themselves and each other.
I am a recent college graduate from a SUNY college in New York State. I majored in Public Justice but during three of my years of undergrad I worked, and still currently do, as a substitute teacher's aide in the Lockport City School District. I have a love for working with children and chose to accept a job as a Youth Counselor for the past four months at a residential facility for court ordered children. I have developed strong skills in writing and proof reading, having written many papers throughout college and having tak ... read more

I have tutored students both with and without learning disabilities. In my 15 years as a teacher in elementary and high school, and as a tutor, I have covered math through algebra and geometry, biology, geography/history, chemistry and physics. I am capable of tutoring college level courses in math and science, too. I believe each person is capable of learning, and that a report card can be improved by learning 'how to learn'. I use manipulatives, white boards, games, and music to tap into those areas of the brain that best respond to learning the material. Tutoring time should be a time for children/adults to anticipate with joy, not fear. Bringing out your academic best is my number one goal for you and/or your child.

I have earned a bachelor’s degree in statistics from Iowa State University in 2006 and the following year, I started my master’s program in statistics in Northern Illinois University and graduated with an honorable mention. I worked a lab monitor and an undergraduate research assistant when I was an undergraduate. During those times, I have tutored students navigate statistical software packages and developed / evaluated online homework for undergraduate introductory statistics classes. In addition, the online homework is still being used for the introductory statistics classes. During my master’s program, I have taught three recitation sections per semester of averaging 30 students in introductory statistics course for two years.

I am a recent graduate of a University in LA. During my tenure at Southern University, I decided to persue a degree in science. I fell in love with microbiology, so I persued a concentration in that field which necessitated me to be a master in all areas pertaining to grammar in the sciences-due to research papers as well as lab reports, homework, and term papers. I have tutored students in English, Organic Chemistry (I),Microbiology (Lec and Lab), and other areas pertaining to the sciences.

A Little Bit About Me...

I found a lot of satisfaction in tutoring in college and felt that I was an effective teacher. My students did well in courses that they had been struggling to pass. I use a step-by-step approach starting with what the student knows and connect to everyday life experiences. This approach works particularly well in subjects like physics or chemistry. While a good test score is the goal, I may teach fundamentals so the student understands the subject. This facilitates learning and memorization.
I graduated cum laude from D'Youville College with a BS degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. At D’Youville in 2001-2003 I tutored advanced sciences. The most complex course was Gross Anatomy in which I worked with students on both coursework and laboratory dissection. I also tutored physics and biological chemistry, my area of particular interest. I have approximately four ye ... read more
