I am a recent graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania (May 2011). I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in creative writing. I also have a minor in photography. During my time at Mercyhurst College, I worked as a writing tutor in the school’s writing center. My experience with tutoring began in high school, when I started assisting elementary students with homework through one of my clubs. Throughout the two years I was involved, I regularly helped 6 students, along with 6 students that I met with irregularly. If you need English help, I'm your girl!

I'm an English education major currently attending Western Michigan University to earn my degree. Before starting at Western I attended Jackson College, where I excelled in my writing classes and was asked to become a writing fellow. Through this program I worked with students at the college answering questions and helping them with any and all works of writing. I also worked within a Jackson area prison helping inmates with various writing and English related issues. Before I began tutoring I wrote for my local newspaper for two years. First I was a part of a teen issues column, but was asked to continue to write even after the column was over. Writing and English are my passion and I really love helping others to enjoy it as much as I do.

I have just graduated high school, and have just finished thirteen years of learning. I have ADD, and have had a semester's worth of interning at the Specialized Language Development Center, working with kids who struggle with reading, writing, and comprehension. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. In this position, I facilitated strategic planning sessions and tutored staff who were completing BS or MS degrees in English, sciences, quality, writing, and business classes.
In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience. As a manager and mentor, I also prefer to teach a concept and return to it when the student has an opportunity to use it in their work. A Little Bit About Me...

I typically try to match my teaching style to meet the needs of the particular student(s). I am familiar with many different approaches to teach literacy and math, including some exposure to occupational therapy, emotionally impaired, and LD appoaches to meet certain needs of some students.
