Using my undergraduate degree in accounting, I have 10 years work experience as an internal auditor and a computer accounting staff accountant for three CPA firms. I have an additional number of years of work experience as a mid-level manager of computer programmers and web developers. I have most recently been tutoring students working toward GED certification at a local adult education center.
My teaching, tutoring, style emphasizes flexibility. While there are specific learning units that should be taught and retained by the student, the flexibility of the teacher, or tutor, will assist the learning experience for the student. I substituted after graduation and realized I loved teaching. In college I was asked to tutor for my instructors. My classmates came over to my house to study. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests. I co-taught in Eng. and Alg. I also taught MS Studies, W.Geog., U.S. History, Drama, Eng. II, U.S. History, Journalism, Tutorial and ACT prep also. I have experience in math and science as well. My students did projects such as: Greek masks, maps of MS, project boards on MS Indians and World Religions. I can relate to children of different ages; I have three children ages 5,9,and 18.
