I like to make connections between what is relevant in the world right now to the subject matter. I have worked with children in one role or another for the past ten years. Last semester I student taught 8th grade American History in Fort Collins and completed my social studies licensure. I then substitute taught a myriad of subjects from English to Math, grades pre-K through 12th grade. Before that I spent four years going through CSU's education department and semesters with students ranging 6th grade to 12th grade.

I earned all A's in my graded graduate courses at Teachers College, Columbia University. I believe this reflects my ability to study, learn, research and write research papers. My Master of Arts degree is in Psychology in Education. The courses for this program were in Developmental Psychology and Measurement and Evaluation. Developmental Psychology includes cognitive and language growth. Measurement and Evaluation includes the assessment of individuals, groups, programs and products. I bring a lot of energy to the classroom and ensure that I am over-prepared for each lesson. I enjoy involving every student in a classroom setting and encourage an active, open learning environment. I also believe it is a very valuable experience to be able to work with students one-on-one. I like to work with each student to figure out his or her individual learning style and needs. Though it may not be applicable for this position, I try to plan group activities when possible, so that students can learn from one another and help each other work through problems. I am a self starter, and am good at trying to help someone to see what their potential can be. I am a life-long learner and believe education is what makes people successful in today's society. I own a lot of software programs from the Teach12 curricula. I learn such things as discreet math, the Joy of Science and Understanding the Brain to name a few. I read book such as "Character is Destiny" and "Eleanor Roosevelt" to learn about our rich history.
