Personally, I find that an individual’s feeling and attitude about subjects such as mathematics and physics can greatly impact a student's success than any other factor.I aspire to help students see how fun (and actually quite addictive) math and mathematical sciences really are. If it can become fun, it is no longer “work”. I use many analogies. Obtaining a strong conceptual understanding about a topic makes the "problem" part easier to understand and retain. It also reduces frustration. I really love to see someone's face light up... when "it clicks", and there is understanding.
