My comments on tutoring Anatomy : Certified biology teacher with dual degrees in secondary education - biology and in animal science /. Pre-veterinary medicine. I have extensive background knowledge in a variety of biologically based classes such as genetics, anatomy & physiology, and ecology. I have also taught 9th grade biology and 7th & 8th grade general science.

I have studied, worked, and taught in the biological sciences for almost twenty years. I have taught 9th grade biology and 7th and 8th grade general science. I also have experience tutoring children in both group and individual settings. My areas of personal greatest interest is genetics and evolution.
I am a hands on type of teacher who uses inquiry to help students learn. My method is strongly based on the modeling style of teaching. To inquire more about modeling, you can ask me or go to the American Modeling Teachers Assoc. Website.

Anatomy is one of my top subjects! I was educated in pre-veterinary medicine as an undergrad. This required a lot of anatomy and physiology based courses. I also come from a medically based family and was introduced to anatomy and physiology at fairly young age. By the time I took anatomy and physiology at the collegiate level, I did not have to use my medical dictionary for definitions due to having an expansive knowledge of the terminology already.

Bachelor's in secondary education with certification in biology. Bachelor's in animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. Taught general science to 7th and 8th graders for a year. Taught 9th grade biology for one year. I just moved into the area, and am currently looking for a biology position in the Noblesville region.
I am a certified modeling teacher. Modeling is a "hands on" inquiry based style of teaching. I teach through allowing the students to deal with a given problem or scenario. I then use extensive amount of questioning to help the child to use their logic to solve the problem. This not only teaches the science material; but it also helps the student to learn how to think logically and to ask themselves the right questions. In other words, I don't just teach the material, I teach students how to think critically in a way that not only helps the student to learn t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Cum Laude from Ball State with a double major in Visual Communication and Genetics. Both my parents were teachers and I often tutored my friends. I taught Swimming to children every summer for from 2001-2005, so I have experience with young children having a hard time paying attention. I have strong skills in science and math.
I like to work one-on-one with students. I can get a better feel for their learning style and therefore teach for that specific student. I like to teach by relating the subject to real life situations. All students can learn anything, it just sometimes takes a more personal approach before it really clicks. That is what I want to provide for a student.

More About This Tutor...

With a degree from Purdue University and continuing on to get a degree in engineering, I am engaged in many areas of science and math. Even at a young age I taught my younger sister basic mathematical and reading skills even before she entered kindergarten; we called it "school". The youngest, my brother, in which we are both diagnosed with ADHD, is amazing. I quickly learned to be patient with him when helping with his homework because I can see the same frustration on his face I had at his age when trying to concentrate on a difficult task.
Every child wants to learn, although a more creative design may be needed to find a child's greatest potential. Patience, consideration, and encouraging words are simple tasks to help the self esteem of children in a child's education.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for teaching. I TA'd an intro to Bio course and have experience tutoring many students for well over seven years. I am still a student myself, so I understand the value of tutoring. I am a life-long learner, and I always strive to provide the student I am tutoring (both and young and old) the best education value I can provide.
As a Purdue University grad, I have firm foundation in the following subjects: Calculus (I, II, & III), General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering--(Heat/Mass, Fluids, etc.), Physics (Mechanics and Electricity/Magnetism), Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. I also completed a minor in Spanish and am able to read, write, and speak the language fluently. Likewise, I took both Anatomy & Physiology courses (along with Intro Bio). I have tutored students in all of the subjects mentioned above for ... read more
