Improving Student Achievement

I believe that all children have the ability to learn. They each learn in a different way and at different rates but they all are able to learn. I promote a variety of teaching styles. I have tutored for Acers tutoring in Orlando for a full year. I have full experience with teaching reading and writing, as well as somer lower level algebra and mathematic skills. The kids have ranged from ages 8-14. As well, I have been giving guitar lessons to kids between the ages of 10-14. The children have all been able to pick up quickly, and being a song writer, I encourage the kids to seek full creativity in their music and learning. My comments on tutoring Elementary Vocabulary : Learning and using new words can be fun.

In groups large or small I have always individualized instruction. I get to know each student's interests and abilities, then build on the abilities using the interests. I believe students learn better when they find activities interesting and fun. I have had students come up to me in a hall years later saying remember when we did ... I find or make games and activities so students can learn while enjoying. I also use patterns and any short cut tricks such as number patterns and phonics to make learning easier.
I have taught full time in public and Catholic schools for 10 years. I taught part time as substitute, long term (months to full semesters or more), tutoring for 16years.
