I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Tennessee Technological University of Cookeville, TN. I transferred from a 2 year community college in Harriman, TN known as Roane State Community College. Before starting college, I graduated from Rockwood High School in Rockwood, TN, where I never made lower than a B or a high C in some of my harder classes. I started taking college classes in my Senior year of high school and I was always in the advanced Math classes up until that point. I'm a quick, fast learner and always strive to be better in what I do. I seek a student-centered classroom with a balance of authority and trustworthiness in the teacher so that the students respect me while at the same time feeling comfortable to share their ideas freely. I like for students to apply what they learn soon after the lesson. For example, if the subject was math, and we had been doing multiplication by flash cards, I might ask a question about the number of squares on a chess board. A Little Bit About Me...

I love helping people, particularly children, reach their full potential by becoming life-long learners. Whenever I meet with a student, whether it be one-on-oe or in the classroom, I strive to identify his/her learning style and to create a connection to the lesson to his/her future experiences in the world beyond the classroom. I believe that education is the key to creating citizens with a sense of self-efficacy and a belief that one man or woman can make a differnce.
While earning my MA in English, I spent two years tutoring students in English and training/mentoring other tutors. For the last two years, I have been designing and delivering trianing curriculum. I have plans to return to Middle Tennessee State University in January 2012 to earn my PhD in Math and Science Education.
