A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Augustana College with a BA in Math/Computer Science and Education and Northwestern University with and MBA in Marketing and Policy and Environment. While my initial jobs were with corporations in systems, marketing, and planning, I found I used my teaching skills on a daily basis by applying mathematics and computers, doing research and writing reports, organizing and preparing plans, teaching individuals and groups, making presentations, conducting reviews, and continuing to improve my personal and technical skills. Since receiving my bachelor’s degree in 2007, I have been involved in teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. I hold a certificate for teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) and am currently teaching in the Adult Education Program of our local community college. I also have done English tutoring for college students who wish to improve their English skills. I also tutor students in literacy and am working towards completing a certification in phonetic reading instruction.

A Little Bit About Me...

I don't believe in giving a student the answers to their questions. Rather, I think it is important to help them find the answers themselves--understanding the process will enable them to perform on their own. For example, rather than editing a student's paper, I will go through it line by line and have them help me find the errors.
I have a very strong background in writing. My experience includes my graduate research and thesis, news writing for a tv station, in addition to 6 years of writing for academia. I spent a semester in Pau, France and can tutor beginning to intermediate level students. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in high school, college and graduate school.
