A Little Bit About Me...

My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.
Laid back, but encouraging.If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature.

My degree in English at Rhodes meant that I studied a wide variety of literature, taking both analytical courses and courses that encouraged me to take what I learned from these writers and apply it to my own writing, further developing my skills as a writer, both creatively and as an analytical thinker. This culminated in my senior year, when I studied literary theory and criticism in my senior seminar, and when I was approved to write a manuscript for my senior writing project, for which I received an A, as well as an academic award: the Allen B. After graduating with an Early Childhood/Elementary degree, I took the 3-6 year old Montessori training. I began teaching in a private Montessori school for 5 years. I then worked part time in various positions including substituting for 10 years while my daughters were in school. I was the Director of a Head Start daycare in the inner city which serviced many refugees. For the last 3 years I have taught 2nd grade in a typically hispanic school in the inner city.
