A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher's-assistant for children ages 4-6 I have been able to gain experience working with them one on one and in whole groups for almost two years. This has taught me the value of identifying with the child's unique learning needs in order to encourage and drive their academic success. I believe children need patience from their tutors, steady encouragement, and to be in a positive environment that allows them to feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn without distraction. Interaction prevents or indicates "going too fast" or overwhelming them--"the eyes" are engaged or indicate "shut-down". Making the math or education "mean something" provides a reason for learning or further developing the concepts. Encouragement and sincere compliments are very important.
