A Little Bit About Me...

After 13 years of employment with the Oklahoma City Police Department, I decided to finish my degree, and become a certified teacher. This decision was due to the Police Department recruiting me to teach various computer classes to police officers. I have taught various beginning and advanced computer classes, Algebra II, and business math. I have also tutored students who have failed high school math classes. Each student I have tutored has brought their grade up to at least a "C" average (from a failing score). One student I tutored enrolled in a class at OU for high school credit (Algebra II). After failing his class in his high school setting, he received an A one semester and a B the other.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very dynamic personable adult who loves to laugh, but also knows how to get down to business and get work done. I think it is very important to not only feed information to your student, but also to create a relationship them. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. I have been able to teach non-technical elderly adults computers and teens that had no interest in religion by creating a relaxed atmosphere and attempting to make the subjects interesting, relevant and fun. I believe one of the keys of effective teaching is making things as interactive as possible, trying to get students to teach themselves as we proactively guide them through subjects.
