My teaching style is adaptable to the student. I have over 10 years of experience tutoring. I have tutored elementary to college students and even taught basic reading through Sylvan's Ace-It tutoring. I have extensive experience working one-on-one and also in groups. I was a Supplemental Instruction Leader all through my college years which allowed me to work with groups and instructors, creating sample tests and quizzes, and helping individuals with different learning styles. I have assisted others with learning Spanish, even when English was not the first language, and helped high school up to college students.

While I have been working on my Elementary Education degree I have had the opportunity to teach young children. I have also spent the last two semesters taking methods classes, learning to teach different subjects. I have spent many years babysitting, 2 years teaching an 18 month old basics (counting, abc's, colors, phrases) and eventually complete sentences. For a year I worked with a 4th grader helping with homework and tutoring her in reading and spelling. I have also spent 2 summers working with a 2nd/3rd grader on spelling, basic English concepts, sentences, and reading. I really enjoy working with children, primarily in the lower grades. I enjoy the challenge of teaching music to children and adults of all experience levels. As a teacher, I find that I constantly have to adapt my teaching style to accommodate different student’s needs. Musically, I encourage the student to go in whatever direction they like, but fundamentally I have strict guidelines that I motivate all my students to meet. For example, I support a student’s decision to learn to improvise a blues song, or play a melody from a symphony equally.
