My comments on tutoring Logic : I consistently did well with logical proofs, as well as analogies and statements, throughout the K-12 and college levels.

I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.
I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.

In this, I am flexible... Ideally, it should be comfortable enough for the student.
Currently, I am a student attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. At UT, I am majoring in Microbiology and maintaining a 3.18 GPA. During my education, I have had great opportunities to study the sciences and mathematics; however, history and philosophy are fun to study as well. In my studies of science, I have studied through all introductory biology and chemistry classes including both sections of organic chemistry. My mathematic studies have taken me from Algebra to Differential Equations and Calculus 3 (Multi-Variable). I enjoy interacting with students of all ages and levels in a variety subject matter. Generally, I am easy going and can schedule easily unless it interferes with a work shift or school class. Thank you for reviewing this statement and I look forward to ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have found that positive reinforcement is the most effective way to encourage students to learn. I truly believe that each person has potential regardless of social, economic, or other factors. As a tutor, I feel it is my job to find a way to motivate that student to reach his/her potential. I have worked with learners who absorb information in different ways (e.g., real-world application, memorization, repitition, etc.) and am capable of adapting to these various styles. As a manager in the corporate world, I found myself teaching on a daily basis. As a tutor, many of the principles I have developed over the years--including patience, perserverance, adaptability, and a positive attitude--apply as well. In general, I firmly believe that the basis for success in the world is education. Personally, my reward in tutoring comes from seeing a child’s face light up when he/she can finally ... read more

I have been working with chidlren and older students for a number of years: I started as a sport trainer and I continue as a language tutor. Every one has a different way of learning, to which has to correspond a certain way of teaching: this is extremely easy when teaching one-on-one. I believe in having fun while learning!
My teaching and tutoring experience began prior to completing the BA in Foreign Languages: I had been teaching and tutoring English and Latin to a few Italian students. After graduating and moving to the USA, I started tutoring Latin and Italian to American students. I have always been drawn towards languages, and I find it easy to understand not only the different grammatical principles but also the different culture each language represents. Every time I am learning or teaching languages, I find myself to be enthusiast about explaining even the smallest gramm ... read more

My beliefs are that all children can learn, however, they must learn at their own pace and in their own way. This may mean being extremely patient and empathetic, not sympathetic, to their needs and using their strengths to build confidence while using their weaknesses to set goals. Blooms taxonomy is essential to use for setting standards and assessment of student learning. I apply this to my teaching methods as much as possible along with using hands on experiences to build student interest. I am available evenings and weekends for tutoring. I am very patient and easy going but firm. I hope to provide a comfortable tutoring session in which the student gains confidence in order to succeed in the future!

A Little Bit About Me...

I have extensive experience in academic work, specifically in the areas of math and science. In earning both a BS and MS in Materials Science and Engineering, I not only developed an understanding of mathematical and scientific principles, but I learned how to work and communicate in groups to further common interests. As a graduate student at the University of Washington, I served as a teaching assistant, leading both recitation sections in thermodynamics and teaching basic materials labs, for students both inside and outside of our department.
Each person learns differently. It is a primary responsibility of an instructor to find a method that will resonate and stick with the student to ensure success. Any student should be given every opportunity to find that internal gratification that only comes with mastery over a particular obstacle. That method of accomplishment, in turn, ... read more

Starting in high school, I began to tutor grade school and middle school students through an after-school honors program. I have worked with (primarily middle school) students in several volunteer programs through church youth ministries. I had recently held a position as Music Director for Middle School Ministry at Willow Creek Community Church in Dupage, IL for 13 months. While earning my BAS in the Chicago area, I tutored college students in several subjects, mostly Math and Computer Skills for the entirety of the Bachelors program, 26 months. In both high school and college, the majority of students I tutored were at-risk/probational students.
I have a passion for math and love to make the subject come alive for children and adults alike. I am quite patient and sensitive to diverse educational and family backgrounds, so I often try to relate concepts to the student's own life a ... read more

I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges. I believe in starting with the basics, and making sure that the students truly grasps the subject matter before moving to more difficult concepts. Often, it takes several different approaches before a student is able to understand the concept. I believe that with patience, I can find the right approach and help most students perform at a higher level.

I believe in inspiring children to be intrinsically motivated to learn. By learning who a child is we, in turn, learn how to teach them. As a preschool teacher I am patient, encouraging, and motivated. My motto is "if at first you don't succeed try again" and it goes not only for the student but also for the teacher. I try to bring in as many outside experiences as possible to help children form connections to what they're learning in school, and the real world. As cliché as it sounds children are the only future we have and we can give them the incredible gift of knowledge and the confidence that they really can do anything.
