A Little Bit About Me...

I believe a hands on approach to teaching a subject is the best way for a child to succeed. I believe that flashcards as well as games help younger children succeed in mastering a subject. Making a subject fun is key to helping a child tackle a tough subject. For older kids, practice tests are very helpful as well as flashcards. Encouragement and support is also an important part of mastery.
I have been a volunteer tutor at a local elementary school during their aftercare program. I have also been a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Memphis to a first grader who had trouble with math (adding,subtracting, and multiplication). I have also helped fellow peers study for tests and the Reading and English sections of the ACT.

Every child is capable of learning!

In addition to my education I have homeschooled my daughter and my best friends child from pre-school through first grade. They were both reading before Kindergarten. Also, I tutored 3rd through 5th grade in math and english/reading for two years. In addition, I homeschooled for another family from grades 6 through 8 bringing one childs grades from Ds and Fs to As and Bs.
