I have tutored my little cousins with their homework before & also in summer camp activities with kids in general! I love to help out with anything I have knowledge in. I am a god writer who loves to write and also working on a novel currently. My strongest points are composition and I am very wordy when it comes to writing. I love to read in my spare time and my favorite subject is English still. I do know some Spanish as well. I am not looking to tutor in Math, as that is not my strongest field. i know some Biology as well.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I also travel to Mexico several times per year to keep up with my proficiency!!

I taught Spanish for 30 years, most of which were at White Station High School. After retiring from Memphis City Schools, I taught Spanish for State Tech (now Southwestern), FedEx Trade Networks, and Regions Bank. Also, I tutor Spanish for students at MUS and St. Mary's. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from all of my participants!
I love one-on-one tutoring for students and adults! I find that I have the full attention of that person so that we can make a lot of progress during each session!

My teaching style has always been "learner-centered". I've always checked first to see what the students' needs were and what their learning style was before I made lesson plans. I have found that if I find something the student is interested in learning and present it in a way that he/she likes, then the student is more likely to engage in the lesson. I've always used the internet as a resource to find the most creative ways of presenting otherwise boring information. I have also found that a lot of support helps the student in the long-run instead of a "sink or swim" approach. Also, the support helps with self-confidence and the student appreciates that the teacher cares and therefore the student cares about learning too. I received a bachelors degree from The University of Memphis in integrative studies in the fall of 2009. Upon graduation, I was required to complete two semesters of student teaching. Also, during my four years of college, I tutored three different students, one in reading and the other two in English. From August 2009 through January 2011, I was employed at a child care facility where I was director but spent most of my time tutoring and assisting the after school kids with their homework and projects.
