I believe in teaching to the student and making the subject matter relevant and easy to comprehend. I encourage dialogue an debate in order to fully engage all of my students.
I have been working with the education field for 13 years. I have primarily worked in special education which has given the unique experience o teaching or co-teaching all subject areas. I am currently the special education coordinator a charter school in Philadelphia. Prior to working in Philadelphia, I taught social studies, math, English and GED preparation for adults. I can simplify the class instruction and teach any subject area. Other experience include working as a dean of students, and various other leadership roles.

I am currently back in the Reading area after completing two years with Teach For America on Chicago's Southside. While there, I taught 9th Grade English/Test Prep and 6th Grade writing, which I loved! Two years ago, I graduated from Barnard College, which is the undergraduate women's college of Columbia University in New York. During my time in New York, I tutored many young children in English/writing and French conversation and grammar.Because of my content area, my tutoring strengths are English, writing, test-prep and grammar work. My teaching style is one in which I find ways to relate content to the students' everyday lives. I like to balance textbook knowledge with practical applications and cultural relevance. I also am a firm believer in planning lessons that require higher order thinking skills yet do not become overwhelming. I began Tutoring at Back-to-Basics Learning Dynamics in 2003; courses ranged from College Level Probability & Statistics, High School Algebra and Pre-Calculus, Science, Psychology, to English and World Cultures. In 2007 I started at Academic Connections Tutoring of Delaware, where I the started tutoring and educating Pre-Calculus, Algebra I and II, Probability and Statistics, College Algebra and Trigonometry, Plane Geometry, Integrated Math I, II, & III, and most recently, Chemistry.
