It is also important to make sure that what they know is correct and that they are not confused or misunderstanding the material. After which, getting to know the individual style of learning for each student will insure that time is used efficiently and that the student is understanding and retaining the material being taught. I have learned extensive grammatical skills through my school's intensive general studies program. I am confident in my ability to tutor students in mathematics, science, English and the humanities at the K-12 level and biology and English at the college level.
I believe that students best learn from doing. My role as a tutor is not just to provide answers, but to facilitate and encourage learning. I have taught for 15 years in inner city St. Louis, MO, 5 years at Job Corps in Kentucky, and 3 years in alternative schools in Kentucky.
