A Little Bit About Me...

In my experience, fear and self-consciousness interfere the most with learning. This seems especially true of arithmetic and higher levels of math. I don't believe that children should force themselves to memorize something they don't understand just to please a teacher. It is my job to find a way to make it clear. I try to relate all material to the student's experience. I like to watch carefully until I see a spark, and then enjoy the experience with the student. I believe that the best motivation is to have a teacher accept you and believe that you can do it.
Teaching has been a source of great pleasure for me. While I was working at regular full-time jobs, I usually had a part-time teaching position. A Little Bit About Me...

As a mechanical engineering graduate at USF, I have taken a wide variety of classes in a wide variety of fields that have broadened my horizon. I am currently persuing my Masters degree in mechanical engineering. Also, I have learned extensive grammatical skills as well as writing research papers and lab reports, along with other reports in my engineering backhround. During the last five years I have spent four of them tutoring classmates and peers alike in engineering as well as other fields.
I have two younger brothers, ages 14 and 15, who I feel have made me that great tutor that I am today. A Little Bit About Me...

Almost all my extensive and diverse experience has been in engineering management in both the public and private sectors. While attending Rutgers University, tutored minority students in both math and English in Newark College of Engineering. Subsequently after graduation taught one semester at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico one undergraduate course (Introduction to Statistics) and one graduate course (Advanced Cost Accounting).
It would be to my great satisfaction to pass all this accumulated knowledge to the new generations. Teaching (tutoring) strategies will vary with each individual case but in all cases the student must be kept motivated and interested by providing real life situations that relate to the subject being studied while, at the same time, maintaining a pace that is neither low nor overwhelming.
