I have been dancing since the age of three. I received my early training from LaGrange School of Ballet in LaGrange, GA. I have training and teaching experience in classical ballet, jazz, modern dance, hip-hop, praise dance, and lyrical. I received a B.A. in Dance Performance from the University of Alabama in 2004. Past performances include The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Cinderella, Hairspray, and Chicago to name a few. I am the past resident choreographer/senior instructor for Ballet on Wheels in Memphis, TN.
I believe that the basics (technique) is very important. It is the foundation for all forms of dance.

I am very flexible in my teaching style and have helped students who learn in very different ways. While I was working with the Reading by the River program I worked with four different students each of which learned in very different ways. From this I learned at a very early time in my life that it is crucial to cater to each individual students needs. I personally have a more analytical mind and analytical learning style however I have learned how to explain technical aspects of accounting in a variety of ways.

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to lead by example. Being that I am a visual learning I try to work in steps showing them what is expected and them I allow them to slowly work it out themselves based off of what I've done. I've done a lot of teaching to children with Autism and our teaching style varied to fit the way the child was able to learn.
