I have always believed in "connecting the dots." Knowledge and learning cannot be strictly confined to subject-area teaching. For example, many academic subjects can be studied while one writes, makes art, to creates stories, practices problem solving, or invents solutions to problems we are facing in this modern age. Listening to students and providing opportunities for them to demonstrate knowledge is very important. I never want learning to bore a student. Once understanding is achieved, that knowledge should be put to use and new challenges should be introduced.

We had a healthy competitive spirit that helped us grown into productive adults. I first began tutoring in an afterschool program in 1995. I have always loved assisting students with learning. I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think of whats going on in the tree, right down to the point of the tree taking in carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen and water. Why is the tree giving off water. most people do not know that the tree is making water because it is attaching hydrogen to the oxygen to get rid of the hydrogen, acid. I can apply this same visualization to almost anything.

I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. However, I believe that by teaching intuitive thought processes and critical thinking skills, students can easily adapt to the tasks given be they in science or liberal arts.
While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. During the application and acceptance process I was an adjunct faculty member at a local technical college. My courses taught were remedial Algebra, biology, and anatomy and physiology. During the hours between classes I was a paid Tutor in the college's learning assistance center.
