I love helping children learn.

I have helped my cousins, which are 9 and 11, in school for years with reading and writing. I am also able to help in environmental science and economics. In high school I completed both with an A-. I have also taken A computer class and a business class at Muskegon Community College and excelled at both. I am able to help a student learn to type more effectively. I am also able to tailor my teaching style around the student.
I meet the student and work around their specific needs. If they are more energetic then I find things that will not only help them learn but will also allow them to use some of their excess energy. However if the student is more laid back I find more calm and relaxing ways to help them understand. I have a rewards system that allows the student to earn tickets that they can later use to get things that they can use.

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my Bachelor of fine art's degree in studio art and a minor in art history. While earning my Bachelor's degree I taught a beginning ceramics course, worked as a ceramic technician and a shop technician for my university. I taught at a private art summer academy, and earned three scholarships to attend workshops at CSU summer arts. After returning to the states, I have earned my single subject credential in art, tutored two years at an elementary school, taught 6th grade summer school, and student taught at two different high schools in California teaching art to students from 9th to 12th grade. My goal is to help students relize that they can learn. I want for students to make connections between what interests them and learning. I don't thik every student learns the same way but I do believe that every student can learn you just have to find that fire inside them and light it. I earned a Bachelors degree in English from Western Michigan University in 19997. I taught at the middle school and high school levels. My experience in the classroom has prepared me for other tasks such as tutoring outside the classroom. During my years of teaching I did provide tutoring services for students through the Urban League Organization.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved working with children. I believe that every child is capable of learning when given the necessary tools and encouragement needed. I left the classroom in 2006; however, I do not want to completely give up teaching and for this reason, I think that tutoring is a great match for me.
