In May I will graduate with a BA in Chemistry and will be 3 credit hrs away from a BA in Mathematics at the University of Tulsa. I have also completed a minor in English and am 3 credit hours away from a minor in Physics. I have twice presented research at the American Chemical Society national conference in San Diego and New Orleans. REAL LEARNING IS FUN, RISKY, DANGEROUS...BUT NEVER BORING :)

My experience spans both the ivory tower and the world of business and industry. I have observed that "TEACHING" is often associated with the ideas of "PRESENTATION" and "ACADEMIC ENTERTAINMENT". Honestly, for many students it is comforting, soothing, and safe to sit in a chair and listen to an "ADULT" sing to them in the language of Calculus, Organic Chemistry, Java, etc. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT APPROACH. I enjoy teaching, conversely I also have enjoyed my experiences tutoring to date. Working one on one is what some children (and adults) require if only from time to time to "get through" something they are struggling with academically.
