I enjoy tutoring those who are in Middle School or High school. I feel as though they tend to have a higher capacity for sustaining attention. Those are unique ages that can really build a foundation for later education. I believe that one-on-one time is essential in learning. Some people might learn well in a large group, but others learn much better when time is spent on explaing specific details. I find the most enjoyment when a tutee finally links the core concept and is able to solve more difficult problems on their own.

My teaching style approaches the learner with patience and creativity. As an art and writing student, I realize that many kids learn differently, and I try to approach each situation as a unique situation. As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence. Because of this my teaching style involves breaking down the writing process into a format that is understandable for the student and using the foundations of their learning. I love mentoring staff / students. I find it very rewarding when the "light bulbs" start to go off with staff / students with respect to any topic. I am now a father of (5) and a baseball coach. I am pursuing my masters in Mathematics as a continual learning lifestyle. My talents are in de-mystifying mathematical processes that are inherantly written to confuse young learners.
