I have always enjoyed teaching children of all ages. I've had experience as a teaching assistant that has well prepared me as a tutor. I am very laid back and patient while finding a positive way to encourage students to meet their potential. I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement and enabling students to feel comfortable in their learning environment. It is my experience that an instructor delivers more learning when a student has an interest in the subject. "Inspire rather than require," has far greater efficacy in delivering information. I tend to make it fun, interesting and encourage student participation and feedback. Reward, a basic human desire, engenders craving for learning. As each individual’s qualities are unique, I try to determine if one is a visual, auditory or tactile learner. Analogies often make good teaching aids. For example, if the subject were human circulatory systems, shining a light through a leaf reveals veins similar to our own and is more apt to draw the student into the subject. When appropriate, I ask the student to teach me.
