A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children all capable of learning and that each one learns in their own way. The basis behind successful teaching is to find what motivates them and relate that to the subject. I'm a patient teacher but I also believe in being a challenging teacher. Setting the bar high and providing assistance along the way is how I excelled in school and I believe it can be used for other children as well.
As a graduate of Tennessee State University, I've been very driven to consistently purse excellence education. I ranked in the top 10% of my class upon graduation and during my tenure I worked within the schools substitute teaching programs. Mentoring/tutoring students in area high schools and middle schools, while also working with students in the Upward Bound Program. At the present time I am working at the University of Michigan as a Research Lab Specialist Lead. Beside research this position enables me to interact with students and teach them the biologic basic skills. I am challenged to be creative, nurturing and most of all, patient. During my Ph.D. program I had the opportunity to teach at the European classes (ERASMUS)for college students. This position allowed me to teach to students from all over the world. I also had the chance to take care of children in high school as a mentor. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to the education field.
