ASVAB is one of my top subjects! I've had great success tutoring ASVAB preparation. The material is limited, so I can zero in on the important subjects. I always devise a strategy that is best for the individual student. There are a number of ways to approach multiple-choice questions and I teach them all. My greatest success was a boy who had scored 17 on his first try. When I finished, he scored 48. This score was such an improvement that he was required to take the test again to prove he didn't cheat. He is now a marine.

I have logged over 5,000 hours of tutoring in the last four years. I have worked for a game company, which taught me how to approach tests as a contest between student and test-maker, and my extensive background as a writer gives me practical experience when it comes to teaching English and related subjects. My competence in math has always been obvious, as my 796 score (maximum 800) on the math SAT will attest. But most important: I love to teach any child or adult who wants to learn.
I am patient and supportive, but persistent. Each student's mind works differently, and I work tirelessly to find the best way to present material to every child or adult. ASVAB is one of my top subjects! I was hired by the U.S> Army as an ASVAB tutor but the funding was eliminated. I have since tutored students privately to help them meet Army, Navy and Marine Corp enlistment criteria. One of my stdents earned a $5,000 enlistment bonus based on his ASVAB performance. Lived in Budapest, Hungary for a year and a half. Was a student teacher and tutor in college. Taught a variety of courses in the US Army Reserves. Have traveled extensively in Western, Central and Eastern Europe. Great people skills (prepared over 200 tax returns this past tax season).
It depends on the wants and needs of the student. One size does not fit all. It is important to understand the goals of the individual along with the desired outcome and timeframe. Finding the best approach that works for the individual or group results in better outcomes.

I started private tutoring in 1980. I also was a home tutor for the Milton Public Schools. From 1985-1991 I was an instructional aide in a special needs class. From September 1991 to the present I have been a math instructional aide for learning disabled students at Milton High School. I attend classes with them and I work with students in academic support classes.
