A Little Bit About Me...

I have been an Elementary School Teacher for four consecutive years working with students ranging from Kindergarten through fifth grade. I've taught both third and second grades. Second grade is the year students read A LOT so I have a lot of experience in working with students who are both struggling and excelling with reading. This past school year I had a class of students learning English as their second language so I have experience working with students learning two languages at the same time. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have no formal teaching experience, I do have been developing my teaching style for many years while I worked with the developmentally disabled. I learned to identify a teachable moment, which is a time at which the student would be most receptive to learning. As a tutor, I would create those moments and boost confidence by encouraging the student to explore the subject in the way that is most interesting to them.
